Vermont

Joseph Smith Birthplace

For the second day of the Harper Family Reunion we drove about 2 hours northwest to Sharon, Vermont. This is birthplace of the Prophet Joseph Smith. They have a beautiful visitor center and monument there, as well as a picnic spot. We stopped in Lebanon, New Hampshire for KFC (which incidently sits on the spot of the home where Joseph had his leg surgery) and took it with us to Sharon, where we had a picnic. After we ate, the kids had fun finding frogs and this cool orange lizard.

We then went over to the monument. It was beautifully landscaped.

This is our group at the monument.

A statue of Joseph Smith inside the visitor center. There were several rooms which told about the site and Joseph's life.

The grounds were beautiful! We had a nice time there enjoying the peacefulness and beauty of the surroundings and remembering the life and work of Joseph Smith. This is David with his brother, Matthew.

Ben & Jerry's
After leaving Sharon, we drove about 45 minutes to Waterbury, Vermont, to the Ben and Jerry's Ice Cream Factory. We took the factory tour and got some ice cream. Of course, the ice cream was wonderful, and it was fun to see how it was made.

Mom and Dad Harper were great sports!
