After we went to Amish Country, we drove 40 minutes to Hershey, Pennsylvania. Driving into town we noticed the street lights were shaped like Hershey kisses. The town smelled like chocolate. It was heavenly. The kids asked if we could move there.
We went to the factory tour at Chocolate World.
The tour started out by walking through tropical rain forests and learning about cacao trees and harvesting of cocoa beans. Then we climbed into the ride and went through the "factory."
We learned all about how chocolate is made.
It was a fun ride, complete with singing cows.

After the tour (and our free sample), we headed to the gift shop. We found the world's largest chocolate bar.
We also went to Hershey Factory Works where the kids could pretend to be factory workers.
It was a fun way to end the day. Best of all, the tour, parking, factory works, etc. was all FREE! Of course, there was a lot to spend money on at the gift shop....

I was told Hershey, Pennsylvania, stinks! From all the cows. That's what I've heard...anyway....
Not true, it smells like chocolate. There are cows out in the country, but Hershey itself is pretty built up. There's a big theme park there. The cows aren't that close.
We went there last summer when we visited Gettysburg. We liked it too! Although we HATED the Hershey Museum!! You have to pay to get in and the lady at the front desk assured us it was great and that the childrens' area was lots of fun. SO NOT TRUE! NEVER GO THERE!! The Factory is 20x better and free at that!
But then again, I did grow up in a town with a lot of cows, so maybe I just didn't notice.
