After our beautiful morning on the beach, we went back to the house, had breakfast and drove to Hanauma Bay. It was about a 20 minute drive, but we still made it there by 9:00 a.m. We got tickets there (free for military, yay!) and got settled on the beach under the shade of a big tree. It was a little cool (probably only 75 degrees or so, which is fine to just be out, but cold after being in the water and then trying to stay in the shade as well). We all took turns snorkling and staying with William.

It was so fun! Snorkelling is one of my most favorite things ever! We saw so many amazing fish and they are so used to people that they don't swim away. We stayed there through the mid-afternoon, eventually moving up the beach to try out different parts of the bay. We even saw a sea turtle. It was so cool. Kate had fun playing on the beach all day. David finally got her talked into trying snorkelling and we got her all decked out in her snorkel gear and her life jacket. She rode on David's back, but didn't end up ever putting her face into the water. It was so cute and funny.

Ben liked it for a while, but only went in a few times, but then had fun playing on the beach with Kate. William was finally starting to feel better, but still didn't like the beach much. He cried when I put his toes in the water--I think it was too cold--so mostly he just hung out on my lap or napped in the car seat. He didn't like the pool or beach the previous day either. Sarah and Rachel really liked snorkelling and caught on quickly. It was fun to go with them. I kept my leg, which was still all bruised and sore from my surgery, in an ace bandage until I was ready to snorkel. Then I would just rewrap it when I came back.

After we left Hanauma Bay, we stopped at the nearby Blowhole, to see the waves and spray shoot up against and through some rocks. It was beautiful!

Then we headed back to the beach house and showered and did laundry and relaxed and watched the Olympics. It was really fun that the Olympics were on during our trip. After a day in the sun, it was nice to come home in the evening and have something we could all watch together.
