Big Springs

After we left Yellowstone, we headed to Island Park, which was our destination for the next few days.  We went for a family reunion for David's extended family--all his Dad's brothers and sisters were together for the first time in many, many years.  However, David and his brothers and parents decided to arrive a couple days early to spend some extra time together.  It was lots of fun.

Most of us stayed in this big bunkhouse (it slept 22) so it was a big slumber party for the kids with lots of visiting time for adults.  There was a swimming pool, a firepit, and a park, so there was lots to do.

The first morning we were there, we went over to nearby Big Springs, which is the headwater of Henry's Fork river.  It was so beautiful and interesting to see a river just come up out of the ground.

 The water was so clear.
All the kids liked dipping their feet into the water.  Rachel had such a great time with her cousin Abby.
There was no fishing allowed at Big Springs, but we could see the big fish swimming in the water.  The kids all had fun feeding the fish (and a few seagulls) some bread crumbs.
Here is Kate with her cousin Holly.
 Grandpa Harper
and David.  Anyone see any similarities?
There was this cute cabin nearby and then this water wheel right on the water.
Feeding the fish.  Cristall had a good grip on the back of William's overalls.

This is only a small part of David's family--just three of his brothers and most of their kids
