This year for mid-winter break we went to Ellensburg for a few days. We helped Grandma do some jobs around her house, and had a few fun adventures. One day we went ice skating at Suncadia Resort near Cle Elum. I had never been there before, but it was beautiful. We have been having unseasonably warm weather all month long, so it was nice weather to be outside--the rink was even a little melty. But we had a fun time. William really got the hang of it, and by the end, he was skating like a champ.
I loved the outdoor rink.
And the warm fire!We drove around the resort to explore a bit before we left. It was beautiful!
The next day we visited the Kittitas County Historical Museum.
It is a fun little museum.
Ben and Kate kept entertained by doing a scavenger hunt. Ben looks so thrilled to have his picture taken.
Grandma told us how they used to have a telephone like the one on the top left in her house growing up.
The kids had fun playing with the rotary phones in the telephone exhibit. Ben actually asked me how they worked. I showed him how to put his finger on the number and dial around. It made me laugh that kids these days can figure out super complicated electronics, but the rotary phone had him stumped for a bit.
They called each other over and over.
After a few days in Ellensburg, which also included lots of trips to the park, a shopping trip, Winegar's ice cream, and a new Ellensburg Blue Agate ring for me (yay!) purchased from my high school friend, Feng, who is a local jewelry designer, we headed off for a couple of days at Great Wolf Lodge.
These kids were so excited!
We had a great time!
I love vacations!
