Summer is finally here! We've been so busy with end-of-the year activities and there is so much to remember! However, when I started uploading pictures for this post I realized that the vast majority are of Rachel. She graduated from 5th grade this year and had a slew of fun end-of-the-year activities. But they were all great, so here is a recap of some of the fun:
5th Grade Musical
Rachel was in the 5th grade musical, "Go West." Rachel was a townsperson in this very cute production. She started in the chorus for the first portion of the play, then came on stage for her part. She had originally been a little sad that she didn't have a bigger part, but then on the day of the performance, learned she was going to be on stage for most of the play and had to actually learn a little dance at the last minute (evidently there had been some miscommunication). But she pulled it off fantastically and did great in her performance!
Field Day
Kate, William and I went to the kids' field day at school for a couple hours. We had fun blowing giant bubbles, playing games, and watching tug-o-wars.

These girls have been her friends all year long. I can't say it has been smooth sailing all year (I'm not sure 5th grade girls can manage to avoid all the drama), but Rachel has been glad to have these girls as her friends!
Piano Recitals
Sarah, Ben and Rachel all performed in piano recitals in the last few weeks, and all did well. I'm proud of all their hard work this year on the piano.
Tacoma Rainiers
Rachel's honor choir performed the National Anthem at a Tacoma Rainiers (minor league) baseball game. It was their elementary school's night at the game. Initally the kids did not want to go, but they all ended up having a blast. They all had friends there, and it was a beautiful night, and well, baseball games are just lots of fun.
The best part was the firework show at the end!
5th Grade Graduation at Miracle Ranch
The 5th graders spent a day at nearby Miracle Ranch swimming, canoeing and doing crafts and activities. Then the families joined them in the evening for a BBQ and graduation ceremony. 
The scenery was beautiful, and luckily it didn't rain. It was a fun night!
The Egg Drop
The object was to package an egg so that it wouldn't break when thrown off the top of the gym roof. Rachel put her egg in lots of bubble wrap, packing peanuts and quilt batting inside a gift bag hooked to two helium balloons (they were only allowed two balloons max).
Her egg survived!
End of the Year Awards Assemblies
This year:
Sarah got a medal for having a 4.0 all year
Rachel got the Presidential Academic Achievement Award
Ben got the P.E. Spirit Award for good effort and sportsmanship
So proud of all of them...(but no good pictures!)
Phew! I'm tired just recapping all these activities!
It has been a busy last few weeks!
So happy for summer vacation!
