Scholarship Dinner

A couple of months ago, on a Tuesday, Sarah and Rachel heard a scholarship announced at school.  It was for children of active duty military in grades 9-12.  Due to a lack of applicants, the deadline had been extended, but it was only now getting announced at their school.  The applications were due on Thursday.  For the next two days they scrambled to get official transcripts and letters of recommendation.  It was late--very late--Wednesday night when they finished up their essays to go with the application (David and I were also up late helping them edit).

A few weeks later we learned that the hard work had paid off.  Sarah and Rachel were each awarded a scholarship from Ford's Operation Education and were named Ford Blue Oval Scholars.  In mid-December we were invited to attend a banquet where the scholarships were presented.  It was held in a convention center in a nearby city.
First, there was an excellent buffet dinner.  You can see us getting seated at the table near the front.

Then, we moved to an adjacent room for a program.

Each student was presented with a scholarship.  Congratulations Rachel and Sarah!

Thank you Ford Motor Company for your support of education and military families!

It is amazing to think how soon these girls will head off to college.  So grateful for this scholarship money to help us get them through.

I'm so blessed to be their mom.
